A publisher like Image comics It deserves to celebrate its 30 years of existence. Comic planet This series now concludes in our country with the release of the second volume of Image anniversary.

A festival of creativity

The proposal for this series is that the authors known to the publisher’s readers offer or not some pages of an original story, which could be part of a larger universe as is the case with many of the stories we will find. in this second volume, as in the case of the first.

The biggest problem with this collection is that some of the stories contained here are part of universes unknown to most readers. This decontextualization will reduce the impact and understanding of plots that may or may not be good stories. That small group of hardcore American comics fans who know all of this publisher’s series in detail will appreciate this volume more than anyone else, but the rest will encounter some problems…

But on the contrary, we will also see here authentic jewels for readers of well-known series in our country. In some cases we may have seen these little stories or we will see them compiled by the corresponding publisher (which may or may not be Planeta Cómic) who publishes the series in our country, but in other cases they are unpublished episodes. This is the only opportunity to read these stories, which give a certain touch of rarity to this volume.

The best perfumes come in small bottles

It hasn’t been long Mondotr33 arrived in our country, and here we will have a handful of pages in hand James Tynion IV Yes Fernando Bianco which works as a prequel to its series and which, far from being a simple curiosity, works great as an almost indispensable complement for fans of the series.

Maybe the top of this volume comes in the middle, when we see it Ed Brubaker, Sean Phillips Yes Jacob Phillips return to the character of Teeg Lawlessone of the pillars on which his glorious series is based Criminal. Teeg’s Christmas Carol takes us into a tremendously dissonant environment for this world noir: Christmas. This story was recently collected in the third complete volume of the series published by Panini Comics.

And another pleasant surprise is finding it Robert Kirkmann (it would be more necessary, being one of the current leaders of the publishing house with his own label Towards the sky) Already Cory Walker with a new little adventure Scientific dogthe comic character who appears in Invincible and who later had his own series. and inside Hack y Slash against image we will have Tim Seely Already Stefano Caselli offering something that will greatly surprise readers of their popular series, something they’ve been doing for years pitting their creations against all sorts of enemies in popular culture.

Another very successful series, largely determined by the film adaptation with Charlize Theron from a few years ago, it is The old guard. Greg Rucka and a magnificent one Leandro Fernandez They offer us a small glimpse of an episode in the long life of the protagonists of this fiction.

On the side of lesser-known universes, the comic that opens this volume should be highlighted, a creation by Patrick Kindlon Yes Maurizio Rosenzweig in black and white whose length of almost 100 pages constitutes an exception to the rule of short length that prevails in the collection. Gehenna It’s an action story that could attract many new readers to this creative team’s series.

It’s also worth mentioning Skottie Young and his First class messa narrative divided into chapters of a couple of pages that function as Sunday strips in which Young places himself and his family as protagonists. And this is a good example of what we can ultimately find in this volume: things that we don’t usually expect from a comic. And this is always positive.

AND comic published by Comic planet It is presented in hardback format without dust jackets. Contains 400 pages with a dimension of 16.8 x 25.7 cm. and presents the translation of Ignacio Bentz from the American edition of the second volume of Image anniversaryplus all the original covers of the included issues and a final section with the authors’ biographies and a gallery of alternative covers.
