Moztros brings us Astro Biologist Prattes, a very introspective manga with a clear message, what do I want to do with my life?
Moztroz presents us with a very curious and unusual manga that is usually introduced to readers, the astro biologist Prattes de Sarami. A Seinen that mixes fantasy and science fiction with introspective and personal growth themes. It was originally published in two volumes between 2021 and 2023, but arrives in Spain in a special 2 in 1 edition.
What do I want to do with my life?
The story follows Nagi and his friends as they spend their last summer as high school students. The young protagonist goes through a major existential crisis when she doesn’t know what she wants to do with her future and when she realizes that this could be her last summer of freedom. During a dream, she meets Prattes, an alien astrobiologist determined to help Nagi and her friends reconcile with their lives and find their place in life.
We are faced with a Seinen that mixes the “Slice of life” genre with a story of personal development and deep introspection. The work invites the reader to reflect on their own life, everyday life and to rediscover the world. Adolescence is one of the most important phases for people, it is the transition from childhood to adulthood, a phase of maturity in which many changes occur.
Sanuki does a great job conveying all the worries that arise in adolescence about the future and creating situations that all types of readers can relate to. Feeling lost in youth seems to be a universal concept in both Japan and Spain and anyone can see themselves reflected in the story we are told.
The strangest part might be the character who gives the work its name. The mix between the dream world and aliens is quite bizarre and at times confusing. It also seems like it doesn’t take full advantage of this blend and remains a little half-baked.
As for the visual style, we are faced with a work with very soft and rounded features that perfectly convey the peace and introspection that Sanami wants to show. The designs of the characters and environments are beautiful, furthermore, the more fantasy and science fiction parts show great originality in terms of designs.

Astro Biologist Prattes is a work that addresses the question we all asked ourselves in our youth: what do I want to do with my life? A very introspective work on the search for happiness mixed with science fiction and aliens, which is sometimes not fully understood. Even with the latter, the story of how young people find their place in the world is very beautiful.
