Insomniac Games, the developers of Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise, let’s say that the “quintessential” version of the game will be on the new PlayStation 5 Pro. A new video trailer highlights the improvements the game will receive on the new mid-gen console.
The PlayStation 5 Pro goes on sale on November 7, and a new and improved PS5 Pro trailer shows off the enhanced features players will be able to experience on the Pro console’s new hardware. “We want to put as much detail as possible into the characters and environments,” Jacinda Chew, senior art director of Insomniac Games, said in the trailer. “We’ve always had to make compromises when we go into performance mode.” With the PS5 Pro, the creative vision behind the games makes the most of the console’s new hardware for a significant improvement in game performance.

“The PS5 Pro fits right in where it allows for greater fidelity,” said Abdul Bezrati, lead engine programmer at Insomniac. “Ray Tracing is now two to three times faster, [and the console has] a real custom silicon AI upscaler that does the scaling. The result is a marked improvement in the game’s visuals and a jump in quality. PlayStation recently released a list of more than 50 games that will receive similar improvements on PS5 Pro launch day.

While the PlayStation 5 Pro can deliver the ultimate gaming experience for Insomniac fans Spiderman games, the developer recently confirmed some disappointing news for fans of the franchise. No new content will be added to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 move forward. The news was recently confirmed when Insomniac spoke about their plans to release the game on PC, with a port of the game planned for January 30, 2025. Fans had previously spotted content in the game’s menus that hinted at new DLC expansions, but that no longer seems to be the case.

Insomniac Games is also developing a new video game titled Marvel’s Wolverinewhich will tell a new story featuring the iconic member of the X-Men. The game will share continuity with the Spiderman games.
