Film and television actor James Van Der Beek has revealed he is living with colorectal cancer. However, he feels optimistic about his future.




By PeopleVan Der Beek said in a statement: “I have colorectal cancer. I have been privately dealing with this diagnosis and I took steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family. There is reason to be optimisticand I feel good.”

It is unclear when exactly Van Der Beek received his diagnosis. He’s still performing, as he’s set to appear in the Tubi original film soon. Sidelined: the QB and me; The film will premiere on November 29. He will also be seen on the small screen next month with his appearance in The real full Montya two-hour television special featuring celebrities stripping to raise awareness of prostate, testicular and colorectal cancer screening and research. Other stars in attendance include Taye Diggs, Chris Jones and Bruno Tunioli. Earlier this year, Van Der Beek was featured on the game show We are a familyand he made an appearance in the last episode of Walker.



Van Der Beek also highlighted the quality time he spends with his family. He recently shared images of his kids in their Halloween costumes on Instagram, noting that his “favorite part” of the holiday was seeing the look on his 6-year-old’s face after putting on a homemade halo. Other recent posts highlight the birthdays of his children, ages 3 and 14, while another celebrates his 14th birthday with his wife, Kimberly.
