A large part of Agatha throughout focuses on a group of witches walking the mysterious Witch Road, which is legendary for granting a wish to anyone who survives its trials. However, it is revealed in the last two episodes that the witches’ route never existed and that it had been invented by Agatha and her son, Nicholas Scratch, to attract witches. Nonetheless, Billy Maximoff’s powers made the Road real, just as his mother had created a new pocket reality with Westview three years earlier.

When the audience first meets Agatha Harkness in WandaVisionshe is already in possession of the Darkhold, the powerful book of the damned which later corrupts Wanda Maximoff. In Agatha throughoutJennifer Kale implies that Agatha obtained the Darkhold after making a deal with Mephisto, trading her son in exchange for the book. However, this is later revealed to be a lie that Agatha told to protect herself from the painful truth: her son is dead.

Although the revelation of Nicholas Scratch’s true fate is tragic and poignant, it leaves an important question unanswered: how did Agatha obtain the Darkhold?
