The series followed Agatha and her motley crew of down-on-her-luck witches as they traveled the mysterious Witch Road in hopes of gaining their favor in the end. However, faced with external and internal challenges, the journey turns out to be much more perilous than they had imagined.




The season finale of Agatha throughout changes the status quo of the MCU’s multiple characters, closing certain storylines while creating several new ones. Now that the latest MCU series has ended, fans still have many questions about what to expect from certain characters and storylines in the future.

Tommy Maximoff is one of Wanda and Vision’s twin sons who first appears during the events of WandaVision. He and his twin brother Billy were originally figments of Wanda’s imagination following the Westview Hex, but they do not remain that way. In Agatha throughoutit is revealed that Billy transferred his consciousness into the body of a dying teenager. In episode 8, he does the same for Tommy, although the series ends before the location of Maximoff’s second son is revealed.

The next time audiences see Billy, they can expect to follow him on his quest to locate his recently reanimated twin and hopefully unite the rest of the Maximoff family for the first time since. A large part of Agatha throughout focuses on a group of witches walking the mysterious Witch Road, which is legendary for granting a wish to anyone who survives its trials. However, it is revealed in the last two episodes that the witches’ route never existed and that it had been invented by Agatha and her son, Nicholas Scratch, to attract witches. Nonetheless, Billy Maximoff’s powers made the Road real, just as his mother had created a new pocket reality with Westview three years earlier.

By the end of the series, it is unclear whether Billy’s powers made the Road permanently real or whether it began to fade once its creator realized what had happened. The series appears to be setting up a potential reunion between Agatha and Nicholas, although it remains to be seen whether it will take place in the afterlife or the real world. The MCU could set up this complicated relationship for future projects, giving Agatha the worst possible scenario for finding her long-lost son.

Agatha throughout defied MCU norms by killing off most of its main cast during the events of the series, including its title character. Most of the other members of Agatha’s clan die along the way, with Sharon Davis perishing during the first trial after inadvertently poisoning herself. Alice Wu-Gulliver is killed when Agatha attempts to steal her abilities and psychic Lilia Calderu sacrifices herself to defeat the Salem Seven in episode 7.

When the audience first meets Agatha Harkness in WandaVisionshe is already in possession of the Darkhold, the powerful book of the damned which later corrupts Wanda Maximoff. In Agatha throughoutJennifer Kale implies that Agatha obtained the Darkhold after making a deal with Mephisto, trading her son in exchange for the book. However, this is later revealed to be a lie that Agatha told to protect herself from the painful truth: her son is dead.

  • The Darkhold first appeared in Agents of SHIELDalthough the canonicity of this series remains unclear.


Although the revelation of Nicholas Scratch’s true fate is tragic and poignant, it leaves an important question unanswered: how did Agatha obtain the Darkhold? If the witch didn’t trade her son for the corrupted book, then she must have gotten it some other way, off-screen. She may indeed have made a deal with Mephisto, exchanging something else that has not yet been revealed.

At the end of the series, however, Rio Vidal reveals herself to be Lady Death and claims several members of the clan before finally retreating to her domain.

Lady Death is an extremely important character in Marvel Comics, making her way into several major storylines, including Infinity Gauntlet. It stands to reason that the character is only just beginning his role in the MCU, with more appearances planned in the future. Most Marvel Disney+ series are designed as miniseries, with only one season to tell their story. However, the franchise seems to be moving toward longer-form storytelling opportunities, with shows like Loki And Daredevil: Born Again receive at least two seasons. It is therefore possible that there will be a season 2 of Agatha throughout.

A second season of Agatha throughout would most likely follow Agatha and Billy as they embark on an adventure to locate Tommy Maximoff. The series could also continue to delve deeper into Agatha’s story, with centuries of history to explore.
