Video games saw their peak in the 2000s, a decade that started with simple polygonal graphics and ended with near-realistic graphics that no one had seen before. This particular change would not be possible if there had not been significant advancements in video game hardware.which not only allowed for better graphics in video games, but also more complex video games.
Whether it was the PlayStation 2 or the PlayStation 3, video game consoles of the 2000s brought new features to gamers. Many of the innovations of these consoles came in the form of new online features and quality of life improvements.

The N-Gage was an attempt by phone maker Nokia to compete with Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance. The N-Gage was more like a prototype smartphone. Not only did it play video games as advertised, but it was also capable of internet access, phone calls, and text messages. This made the N-Gage more advanced than the GBA, and it was backed by a surprising array of video games.
Games released on the N-Gage include Sonic Nwhich is a port of the GBA Sound progress game, and Guitar Hero: World Tourwhich did not require any peripherals to operate. Unfortunately, despite these titles, there weren’t enough quality games on the N-Gage.and its lack of kid-friendly features severely limited sales. It was discontinued a year before Apple’s iPhone boosted mobile gaming and made mobile video games more convenient and lucrative.
9 The Game Boy Advance was ahead of its time
Although it wouldn’t be too advanced for the rest of the 2000s
Nintendo launched the Game Boy Advance in an attempt to successfully fend off high-tech competitors to its older Game Boy and Game Boy Color consoles. Just as the original Game Boy and GBC were designed to be portable versions of the Nintendo Entertainment System, The GBA was designed to be a portable Super Nintendo Entertainment System. This involved graphical and audio upgrades on one hand, but the GBA had much more to offer than just these upgrades.

Up to four players could enjoy multiplayer in many games, and a plethora of unique peripherals would give GBA players more options to work with. The Game Boy Advance didn’t have many original titles, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some great Game Boy Advance games, especially when it comes to Mario. Some of Sega’s early third party games Sonic the hedgehog titles were released on the Game Boy Advance, marking an ironic truce between the former rivals of the video game scene.
8 The PlayStation Portable is full of good ideas
Although this was perhaps a little too ambitious
Sony, which had found success with the PlayStation line of consoles, entered the portable gaming market with the PlayStation Portable. This was a portable version of the PS2, capable of playing both games and movies. but the PlayStation Portable acts more like a precursor to the PS3 with its user interface.

The console was much more capable than a handheld and offered a library of great PSP games. However, it failed to outperform Nintendo’s less capable handhelds, particularly the Nintendo DS. The PSP’s media format, the Universal Media Disc, was never adopted outside of the console. Finally, many PSP games would find their way to other video game systems, particularly the PS2 and PS3. Still, the PlayStation Portable is considered a cult console among PlayStation fans, to the point that it was discontinued ten years after its launch.

The Nintendo DS was initially marketed as a “third pillar” to the Game Boy Advance and GameCube, though its success eclipsed the other two consoles. Launched to compete with Sony’s upcoming PSP, the Nintendo DS proved innovative in more ways than one. The most obvious innovation was the Nintendo DS’s dual screens. The DS’s bottom screen is intended to be used as a touch screen, allowing players to interact with the game in a way.

The Nintendo DS was a revolutionary handheld gaming console, but it also hosted some truly weird and incredible releases.
Aside from the touch screen, the Nintendo DS was capable of 3D graphics, making it a portable and lighter version of the Nintendo 64 or GameCube. The cartridge slot on the bottom of the DS is intended for playing GBA games, but many game makers have designed clever peripherals that allow certain games to use this slot in some way. The console has had a long life, receiving countless upgrades, and leaving its mark on gamers’ minds.
6 The PlayStation 3 has received retroactive praise
The PS3 library has improved over time
Sony’s PlayStation 3 attempted to make Blu-ray the dominant form of high-definition video playback, clearly anticipating competition from HD DVD. The PS3 originally came with other features, such as a multitude of flash memory drives and the ability to run Linux. The latter was supposed to fit the PS3’s dual purpose as a supercomputerwhich seemed lofty for a successor to the PlayStation 2, which was billed as a cheap DVD player.

The PS3 was notoriously more expensive than its competitors, and a lack of interesting games led to its decline in its early years. Fortunately for Sony, several hardware revisions and price cuts have made the PlayStation 3 a more humble console over time. The PS3 has acquired a respectable library of games and is now considered a worthy competitor to rivals of its time.
5 The GameCube was not a console to be underestimated
It has been re-evaluated over the years
The GameCube was Nintendo’s attempt to compete with its increasingly high-tech competitors, Sony’s PlayStation 2 and Microsoft’s Xbox. It used optical discs like its competitors, but Nintendo opted for mini DVDs instead of the standard-sized DVDs of its competitors. Nintendo did this in an attempt to circumvent piracy, but the file size was a barrier to third-party developers.

This meant that few third-party games were offered in the small box, let alone GameCube RPGs, despite the quality of the selection. The games released on the GameCube helped showcase the console’s capabilities. Super Smash Bros Melee is a good example: the game graphics show much more detail than any game on the Nintendo 64. The GameCube had a solid lineup of first-party titles that made the system interesting to play, although it’s unfortunate that third-party support is lacking.

A spiritual successor to the Sega Dreamcast, Microsoft’s Xbox ushered in a new era of video gaming. Semi-triumphant because the Xbox lagged far behind the more popular PlayStation 2, but it still had a lot going for it compared to that console or even Nintendo’s GameCube. Its hardware was identical to that of most personal computers at the time, meaning that developing games for the Xbox wouldn’t be much different than developing games for Windows computers.
This made it easier to port games from Windows to the Xbox and vice versa, allowing the latter to amass a good selection of games. A more important factor in the legacy of the original Xbox is its online capabilities. Popular games on the Xbox, especially the Halo games, used online multiplayer via the venerable Xbox Live gaming service. This has opened up new opportunities for online gaming scene, which evolved into the competitive scene that video games are known for today.
3 The Wii was a pioneer
It’s a GameCube with a remote control
The Wii marked Nintendo’s successful return to the video game console scene. The Wii is essentially an upgraded version of the GameCube, with games on that console being backwards compatible. The key to the Wii’s success, while not as powerful as Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PS3, is its motion controls. All of this is done via the iconic Wii Remote, which can simulate real-world objects. It depends on how it is held.

2 The Xbox 360 is a gamer’s paradise
It had everything from games to online features
The Xbox 360 marked the beginning of the success of Microsoft’s Xbox brand. It was released a year before its competitors, the PS3 and Wii, which gave it more time to develop a strong customer base. Part of the Xbox 360’s initial success was due to the fact that it drew inspiration from the online gaming features of the original Xbox. The Xbox 360 recalls the golden age of online console gamingwith its Xbox Live service which has continued over the years.

Sony PlayStation 2 The Xbox One is the best-selling video game console, and a quick glance can easily explain why. It may have lacked the online capabilities of Microsoft’s Xbox and the graphical enhancements of Nintendo’s GameCube, but it didn’t need either. Instead, it also needed to serve as a cheap DVD player, back when DVD was just starting to flourish as a viable format. This of course led game developers to use DVDs to produce games of a quality that had never been matched before.
There is no shortage of great first and third party games on the PlayStation 2. On the first party side, there were games like Gran Turismo 3 And Ratchet and ClankOn the third party side, there have been some successful achievements, including Grand Theft Auto: San Andreaswhich happens to be the best-selling video game on the PlayStation 2. The PlayStation 2 was so successful that, as a testament to its success, it managed to retain software support years after the introduction of the PlayStation 3. The PlayStation 2 can easily be recognized as the video game console of the 2000s.
