The Librarians The franchise is returning to TNT. After being removed from The CW’s fall schedule last week, Librarians: The Next Chapter was acquired by TNT, which was the home of the franchise’s previous series, The Librarians.




By Deadline, the acquired network Librarians: The Next Chapter from Electric Entertainment, which produced the series.The next chapter was originally scheduled to air on The CW on Thursday, October 24, 2024, following an all-new episode of Superman and Loisbut was removed from the schedule last week and replaced by the reality TV series, The Wranglers. No new premiere date for The next chapter was announced at the time. TNT has already aired all four seasons of the franchise’s predecessor, The Librariansbetween 2014 and 2018.

The next chapter follows a new team of librarians

A spin-off of The Librarians, The next chapter “The story follows a librarian from the past who travels back in time to the present and finds himself stranded here. When he returns to his castle, which is now a museum, he inadvertently releases magic across the continent. He is assigned a new team to help him clean up the mess he made, forming a new team of librarians,” reads the official synopsis.


Librarians: The Next Chapter stars Callum McGowan (Jamestown) as Vikram Chamberlin, the librarian from 1847 who breaks the rules and accidentally transports himself to modern-day Central Europe; Olivia Morris (Hotel Portofino) like Lysa Pascal; Bluey Robinson (Brittany) like Connor Green; Caroline Loncq (Mammals) like Mrs. Astolat, and Jessica Green (The Outpost) as Charlie Cornwall/The Guardian, the Librarian’s bodyguard.

The Librarians franchise celebrates its 20th anniversary

2024 marks the 20th anniversary of The Librarians franchise, which began with the TNT TV movie The Librarian: Quest for the Spear (2004). The well-received film starred Noah Wyle as bookworm Flynn Carsen, who is recruited by a secret organization within the Metropolitan Public Library to become the next librarian, collector, and guardian of the world’s most sacred artifacts. The fantasy adventure film spawned two sequels, the 2006 sequel The Librarian: Return to King Solomon’s Mines and 2008 The Librarian: The Curse of the Judas Chalice.

After the film trilogy, TNT ordered a television series, The Librarianswhich ran for four seasons and 42 episodes. The series’ sequel was led by Rebecca Romijn’s Colonel Eve Baird, Christian Kane’s Jacob Stone, Lindy Booth’s Cassandra Killian, John Kim’s Ezekiel Jones, and John Larroquette’s Jenkins, with cast members from the films making occasional appearances. At the time of writing, the only cast member from the previous Librarian payments confirmed to return for The next chapter It’s Kane, who will return as Jacob Stone in a guest role where he will mentor and help Charlie become a permanent guardian.


A new premiere date for Librarians: The Next Chapter has not yet been announced.
