The Legend of Zelda:The Tears of the Kingdom is much more than a simple repetition of Breath of the Wild. It takes everything that has done Breath of the Wild great and adds even more stuff on top of that. The most obvious and well-known additions are the Fuse ability, which allows Link to combine his weapons into new, more powerful forms, and the Recall ability, which allows Link to send objects back the way they’ve been in the past, making it useful for puzzle solving and exploration.

One of the new player-favorite features in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the Ultrahand ability, which allows players to build just about anything they can imagine in the game. From large, moving vehicles to replicas of movie props to giant laser cannons, players’ imaginations seem limitless when it comes to these builds. What’s the coolest thing you’ve personally built in TOTK?
Each time players complete one of the four sections of the “Regional Phenomena” main quest, they are granted a Sage’s Wish, which grants Link a magical copy of that Sage. This copy can then follow Link on his adventure and aid him with special abilities to aid exploration. For example, one Sage grants gusts of wind that can increase the distance Link can glide, while another can quickly destroy large chunks of breakable rock, so Link no longer needs to waste his large weapons or magical powers.

These Wise Wishes can of course be disabled in the Key Items menu if the player prefers to experience Link’s adventure solo. For those who often use these Wise Man’s Wills, it is imperative that they seek out and retrieve the Wise Man’s Will items.By collecting these Sage’s Will items, players can actually upgrade a Sage’s Vow to become a “Solemn Vow.”
The magical spirit of the Wish that follows Link everywhere becomes much more powerful when upgraded to a Solemn Vow, granting it more powerful attacks when Link summons them in battle. As players recruit more Sages to aid them and then upgrade their Wishes, even the toughest enemies can become much easier to defeat. It should be noted that only their attack power is increased; Solemn Vow upgrades have no effect on their abilities.
Finding Sage’s Will Requires Preparation

Players who are successful in finding the Will of the Sage are those who take the time to prepare for this quest. The Will of the Sage orbs are not easy to find, and once you find them, they are not easy to obtain. All of the orbs are located in the Sky Islands and require the player to persevere in cold environments and have stamina during boss fights which can be difficult. As such, Here are some tips to help you prepare for your trip.
Since these orbs are found on the Sky Islands, players will need a reliable means of transportation to get to them. Before you set off, pick up Josha’s quest and complete it to gain the Auto-Build ability for Link. This way, you can craft a simple flying machine for yourself and save it to Auto-Build. Another way to make flying easier is to build using Zonai devices like a balloon, wings, or a rocket (with plenty of batteries, of course).
- Stamina related items include Tireless, Ensura, Stamoika and others.
- Zonai devices come from an ancient civilization whose origin and history are somewhat mysterious.
Acquire all the stamina elixirs you can find and learn to cook with stamina-related items. Once you have a reliable means of transportation, take other practical steps to prepare. Acquire the Snowquill set in Rito Village and cook with heat-related items to combat the cold. Finally, prepare Link for a serious fight by cooking fortifying foods and researching a multi-hit bow and cool armor.
Where do players find Sage’s Will?
And how do players obtain them once they find them?
There are a total of 20 Sage’s Will Orbs hidden throughout Tears of the Kingdom — four for each of the five Sages who grant Link their wishes. All of these orbs appear in chests on the sky islands above Hyrule, but Once players have found the chests, they must open them. And that’s where the real challenge begins..
Most chests are locked with a complex puzzle. Solve the puzzle and open the chest. Some puzzles require mental dexterity to solve. For example, one puzzle involves using mirrors to direct a beam of light at the chest. But other puzzles involve special abilities obtained from shrines like Ultrahand. Still others are easier to figure out after completing quests, like “Secrets of the Ring Ruins.”
- Faron Sky Archipelago, South Neculda Sky Archipelago, and West Hyrule Sky Archipelago are all guarded by Level III Flux constructs.
- In one puzzle-based game, players must burn the vines that trap the chest, and in another, players find a chest deep in an island.
Some chests are guarded by flux constructs, which are bosses created using Zonai magic to hold Zonai blocks together. Players must defeat these bosses by destroying their glowing green core, but this is actually optional if all players want to do is get the chest. They can simply use Ultrahand to remove the chest from the flux construct, open it, grab the orb, and run away. In this case, nimble fingers are all players need if they want to avoid an all-out fight.

To upgrade a simple Sage’s Vow to a Sage’s Solemn Vow, players will need to collect four orbs of Sage’s Will. It is important to note that Sages can only be upgraded once. Once players have completed the upgrade, they must move on to another Sage to upgrade them, which is actually to their advantage. This gives players a wider range of powers at their disposal.
- Some of the Sages include Yunobo, Sidon, Riju, Mineru, and Tulin, Sages of Fire, Water, Lightning, Spirit, and Wind respectively.
- Zelda’s goddesses include Farore, Nayru, and Din, the goddesses of courage, wisdom, and power, respectively.
Once players have their four Sage Wills, they can simply visit any Goddess Statue as if they were about to exchange their Blessing Light Orbs for a new Heart Container or Stamina Container.. If players have obtained multiple Sage Wishes, the Goddess Statue will ask them which one they wish to upgrade. Choose one and the upgrade will be complete.
Which Sage should players upgrade first?
Most players will immediately seek to upgrade a Sage’s Vow once they have obtained four Sage’s Wills. There is nothing wrong with waiting until they have acquired all 20 Sage’s Wills to upgrade, but upgrading as soon as possible can make it easier to acquire more Sage’s Wills. Given that 20 Sage’s Wills are supposed to upgrade five Sages, which Sage should players upgrade first?
The Wind Sage, Tulin, is a great choice to upgrade first, as Tulin is one of the best Sages in combat, given his ability to land headshots from a distance, while many other Sages can get in the way. Having a stronger Wind Sage can make those precise shots even more deadly to enemies. Being able to attack from a distance makes the rest of Tears of the Kingdom a little less stressful. Tulin also gives players a boost in paragliding which becomes an intuitive mechanic with a little practice.
- Sidon is the only Sage with exclusively defensive powers, including a water barrier that lasts ten seconds.
- Yunobo, the Fire Sage, grants Link the ability to use fireballs.
The Spirit Sage, Mineru, is another Sage worth leveling up as soon as possible, despite being the last Sage unlocked in the main story.
