The life of an actor, even a famous one, is not always easy. A big name can sign on for a film that will be a guaranteed success and still end up in the editing room. For most, it’s just part of the job and, even if it’s boring, it’s something you have to accept.




Sometimes, fans find it surprising that a director has already prepared a popular actor and then cut him from the film. Usually, the reason for the cut is the sound, but even then, fans are still left wondering what could have been. While there is no denying that filmmaking is a business full of compromises, there are always times when a film could have benefited from keeping a deleted scene.

Universal countered by claiming that few people had gone to see the film for her alone. In the end, neither side got anything, except the expense and stress of a lawsuit.

Rourke said in a 2005 interview with Contact Music “It was one of the best movies I’ve ever done. There were political reasons why I didn’t do it. It really upset me.” He didn’t elaborate on the political reasons, though. He went on to say, “I had been going through a really tough time and Terry knew that so he incorporated it into the character. It really worked. But just because of my temperature and the industry, my scenes got cut.”

The audience only saw him in shadow, however, so they may not have known it was him, even if the scene had made it into the film.


Ford had a connection with AND This went beyond Spielberg. His girlfriend at the time, Melissa Mathison, was the screenwriter for the film, and he agreed to do a cameo. Thomas was over the moon. It’s just too bad the scene doesn’t exist online in good quality.
