Although The Old Guard 2 will cover filming in 2022, the film has yet to be released. Now, Charlize Theron offers a new update on the project
In the year After the great success of The Old Guard in 2020, Netflix has announced a sequel to the movie starring Charlize Theron. The Old Guard 2 finished filming in 2022, so in theory the movie should have been released earlier, but the reality is we still don’t know when it will be coming to Netflix.
Charlize Theron explains why.
In an interview with Variety , Theron hinted that a sequel to The Old Guard is coming out soon. The actress also said that behind-the-scenes changes at Netflix have hurt the project’s progress, and that backlash from writers and actors played a role in the delay. However, Theron stated that production continued.
“Netflix went through a big change. We got stuck in there and our post-production stopped, I think, in five weeks. They were going through a lot of changes and I totally understand… We’re finally back at it and I’m really excited about it.”
The Old Guard 2 still doesn’t have a release date.
