The new preview for Raven, starring Bill Skarsgard and FKA Twigs, has fans excited about the tragic love story between Eric Draven and Shelley Webster.

In the trailer, we see Eric declaring his undying love for Shelly as she emotionally responds, “I don’t want this to end.” Unfortunately, their relationship ends when brutal criminals kill them. However, the story does not end there. Eric is resurrected by a mysterious raven, giving him a chance to avenge their deaths. Although he has returned to life, the pain of losing Shelley is still tormenting him, and it seems that he is determined to get rid of all his anger against those responsible.

From the first ‘clicked’ recording

Director Rupert Sanders shared with Vanity Fair his thoughts on the casting of the main characters. “Between the bill and the twigs I did not do any tests,” he explained. “I invited them to dinner when they arrived in Prague and I felt like a nervous father to see if there was a spark between them, because you never know. And they were great. “They spent time together and immediately hit it off.”

Inspired by James O’Barr’s comic, Raven is a revenge story where Eric is brought back from the dead with the help of a raven. Sanders commented that the theme of the comic appealed to him deeply, making him want to adapt Raven for a modern audience. His appreciation for “emo” music influenced his decision.

The director said: “What attracted me was the possibility of a dark romance about loss, grief and the veil between life and death and how to find it. “Look, I grew up listening to Joy Division and The Cure, and this movie is a little bit like a Cure song: Melancholy’s Beauty.”
