Andy Serkis, the actor behind Alfred Pennyworth, has shared news about filming The Batman: Part II.
Andy Serkis, best known for portraying Alfred Pennyworth, has released new details on the long-awaited sequel to The Batman. While not much is known about Batman II yet, Serkis has revealed when filming will begin.
New information
Presented at ACE Superhero Comic Con 2024, Serkis shared with fans what he had to say about the sequel. While he could not divulge specific details about the plot, he expressed confidence that the script will be “brilliant”. Additionally, he has hinted that he will be returning to set up as Alfred in early 2025.
“Well, there’s a big arc that you have — no, I’m not going to give anything away,” Serkis said. “Basically I don’t know anything about the film, we will probably start shooting early next year. So if you do the math, it will be a year and a half after that.”
Batman Part II
Serkis continued: “Matt [Reeves] He is working hard on the script. Matt Reeves being the extraordinary filmmaker that he is, I can only imagine that it will be another fantastic script, because what he did with the first film was incredible. “I loved working with Rob Pattinson and hope to play Alfred again.”
According to Serkis, the script is still a work in progress. Recently, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn confirmed that the script for Batman II has yet to be released and won’t wait until “Matt thinks it’s ready.” If Serkis is right, Reeves still has time to polish the script before production begins in early 2025, with the film slated for a fall 2026 release.
Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight
Co-written by Reeves and Peter Craig, Batman not only showcased Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight, but also featured an impressive cast. Zoe Kravitz stars as Selina Kyle, Paul Dano as the enigmatic Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Coulson and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot, who will have his own spin-off series.
Expectations for Batman Part II are fraught with expectations, especially after the success of the first installment. Reeves’ ability to create a deep, dark atmosphere combined with Pattinson’s performance left fans wanting more. The universe that Reeves has built, including secondary characters and their stories, promises to expand and deepen in the sequel.

Matt Reeves has proven himself to be a focused and visionary filmmaker. His detailed presentation and ability to tell complex stories were key to Batman’s success. Fans and critics have praised his ability to revitalize the franchise with a new vision while maintaining the dark and mysterious nature of the Batman character.
With the premiere of the upcoming Oswald Cobblepot spin-off series and Batman Part II in anticipation, it looks like the Batman universe is in good hands with Reeves’ direction and Pattinson’s performance. Fans of The Dark Knight can look forward to an expansion of this universe with intertwining storylines that further enrich Gotham’s mythology.
Batman’s Expectations part ii
The sequel will not only be expected to continue the Batman story, but will also explore Gotham and its characters in depth. Fans can look forward to seeing how the relationship between Batman and Catwoman will evolve and the development of other popular villains. Additionally, there is curiosity about how the Oswald Cobblepot spin-off series will tie into the events of Batman Part II.
