Ursula’s Return is the fourth installment of Disney’s Lorcan and continues Lorcan’s first year in Spain, waging a full-scale war against Ursula and her forces. As the corrupting algae spreads, the forces of good gather and there are all the heroes who answer the call. We were able to test the two starting levels of this version, namely sapphire / steel and amber / amethyst, and we chose cool colors.
We examine Ursula’s return of sapphire and steel malt
This is the focus of the collection’s sapphire/steel launch surface. The deck brings together all the great heroes, supporting allies and gaining knowledge that can be terrifying against a slow and steady deck. The most interesting cards in the deck seem to be playable in a very different meta, which until now has been dominated by Amethyst.
While Ursula’s Return Amber/Amethyst deck relies heavily on Mirabelle Madrigal for victory, this deck is less dependent on Ana. However, that doesn’t make her a helper for this deck, as it boosts your heroes’ legendary values every time she wants it.
You’ll often split the party between questing and challenging heroes each turn, but Anna helps balance things out and pushes the questing heroes forward a bit. She also has a good and strong will to keep her in the game and she does a couple of missions on her own, which is very helpful. It’s one of the few cards in the deck that you’ll probably never challenge.
If you have multiple annas in the game, each one will increase the lore value of the other annas that require them. This deck only includes one, but you can always upgrade and add more to turn that quest into something terrifying.
Anna – true heart
Challenge is an important part of this deck as it focuses on gathering an army of hero-type characters to crush your opponent while filling out your story. With that goal in mind, Ling, Imperial Soldier is the top horse of the deck with passive buffs for all your heroes.
For three colors, 3/3 is not bad in itself. It can take hits from many early game threats, and is out of the dreaded Pitchforks catch. But most importantly, Ling’s ability stacks: it stacks with Challenger, it stacks with other boosts, and it stacks with every Ling in the game.
If you can take out two or even three of these bad guys, all of your other heroes will easily be in range to counter and eliminate many of the threats your opponent can play.
After the introduction to the Inklands, locations are back for a second set, and here they give heroes a powerful way to create art with passion. Something that only costs two stories but has seven Willpower is huge, and that’s before you even focus on the skills you have.
The plan is simple: take the most powerful characters to Thebes and use them to eliminate your opponent’s characters in duels. For each one you chase, you make two stories, which for many are simultaneously desired and challenged.
Ensuring vibration is key when playing Thebes. Thanks to its strong willpower and surprisingly cheap movement cost, you can keep playing with another to replace what you lost in most of the game.
