Is Marrock the version of Boba Fett in the Ahsoka series? A relationship that makes you shine

The eerie resemblance between Marrock, Ahsoka the Inquisitor, and the iconic Boba Fett in the original Star Wars trilogy is generating a lot of talk.

As a gift to Star Wars fans, the Ahsoka series brought new characters and plots that lost more than one dialogue. One of the walking mysteries that has caught everyone’s attention is Inquisitor Marroc, and watch out because he seems to have more in common with Boba Fett than we think.

After the release of the trailer, theories about Marrok quickly increased compared to the storm that was missing the target. We’ve all talked about Ezra Bridger, Barry’s Offie, Darth Vader’s secret apprentice from the legends… but no, Marok turns out to be simply Marok, and that makes him Boba Fett’s spiritual twin.

Parallels and Contrasts between Marrock and Boba Fett

Boba Fett returns in a different form in the Boba Fett books, but if we look at his original version in the classic trilogy, we see that these two characters are two sides of the same galactic coin. Both are mercenaries, work for the Empire and hold our attention with very few lines of dialogue.

Now, comes the thorn in the side of all this: Marrok’s fate in the Ahsoka series. Our beloved Inquisitor exploded in a cloud of dust, while Boba had a more cinematic existence in Sarco. So, while they share that mystery and wonder, Marroc doesn’t seem to be quite as spectacular a comeback as his counterpart.

We know that Star Wars has a special predilection for creating characters that screw up their designs and then dismiss them without pain or dignity. There we have Supreme Leader Snoke or Captain Phasma as recent examples and let’s not even talk about Darth Maul in the prequel trilogy. This new Ahsoka character falls into the same category: a surprise person who is taken out of the picture before we know more about him.

Star Wars villains are immeasurable.

If you’re a Star Wars fan, you might be wondering, “And why is this guy here?” You’ve come across villains who make you think. We’re talking about characters whose designs are more impressive than their contribution to the plot. Supreme Leader Snoke is a perfect example. With an amazing design and an amazing presence, the character will be a punching bag for Kylo Ren without knowing anything important about Kylo Ren.

Then we have Captain Phasma, the dark Silver Storm who promises to be the new Boba Fett. Show up, fight a bit and…be good. It looked like she would be a great opponent for Finneue, but no, it was another wasted opportunity.

And what can we say about General Greaves in the prequel. With four lights and a chain-smoking cough, he promises to be the real deal. But beyond two wands, his presence fades faster than the Mirage on Tatooine.

Does Marroc have a future in the Star Wars universe?

Back to the topic: Will we see this villain again? It doesn’t seem very likely, especially considering that unlike Fet, the Inquisitor didn’t open any doors to return. Reviving characters like Madness has failed the franchise with Emperor Palpatine, so I highly doubt they’ll want to play that card again.

Marok is the Boba Fett version of Ahsoka’s universe, with all his greatness and flaws. He captures the public’s imagination, but his tragic ending makes it impossible to follow Boba’s footsteps in his own spiral. Anyway, this new character has found a place in our geek hearts, and who knows, maybe some comics or novels will give him a second chance that he didn’t get on the screen.
