The tumultuous start to the remake of the cult classic has divided fans
This week saw the release of the first trailer for the new Crow directed by Rupert Sanders and under the Lionsgate label. Although the action-packed and incredibly gory sequences were enthusiastically received by some, overall audience response was less than favorable. A day after its appearance on YouTube, the t-shirt has accumulated more than 50,000 “dislikes”, indicating overall satisfaction.
Reimagining The Crow, especially after Alex Proyas’ iconic ’90s adaptation and Brandon Lee’s unforgettable performance, was a challenging mission. The first promotional images with Bill Skarsgård as Eric Draven have already sparked controversy, fueling suspicion among even the most loyal fans.

The intention to maintain the dark, gothic tone of the original was overshadowed by the questionable choice of music and an atmosphere that many called “supernatural”. The negative response was immediate, reflected in a surprising amount of “dislikes” at the digital launch.
Director Alex Proyas, who has always been reluctant to do live-action remakes, emphasized the importance of Brandon Lee’s performance and the unique legacy of the original film.
