3 secondary Spiderman characters mentioned in Madam Web

Madame Web refers to three supporting Spider-Man characters that do not appear in the film.

Last Wednesday, the movie Madam Web hit the theaters. Although not well-received, especially since it is a free adaptation, the reality covers many famous characters from Idea House, from Cassandra Webb herself, Sidney Sweeney, played by Dakota Johnson, Celeste O’Connor, Isabella Merced, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts and Adam Scott, as Julia. Conwarle (Julia Carpenter’s maiden name), Matty Franklin, Anya Corazon, Ezekiel Sims, Mary Parker and Ben Parker, as well as Peter Parker as a baby.

However, the movie Madame Web makes reference to three other popular Spiderman characters. Did you go to the cinema to see the movie or don’t worry about potential spoilers.

May Parker

Peter Parker’s overprotective aunt first came to light in a short adventure titled Goodbye to Linda Brown in Strange Tales #97 by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

As we mentioned earlier, May Parker was played by Jeff Donnell until the pilot of The Amazing Spider-Man (1977) series. by Irene Tedrow in Chapter Six, titled Night of the Clones (1979); by Rosemary Harris in Spider-Man (2002), Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man 3 (2007); By Sally Field in the films The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Electro-Power (2014) and by Marisa Tome in Captain America: Civil War (2016), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man : Far From Home (both 2019) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

However, we have already said that May Parker will not appear in the movie Madam Web, but at the beginning of the movie, a young Ben Parker tells the main character of the movie that he has met someone with him. He seriously intends to go, which is an obvious reference to said character.

Richard Parker

Peter Parker’s father never had the opportunity to create such a character with his son, as he, along with his wife, died prematurely in a plane crash, first appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #5 (1968). , by Stan Lee and Larry Lieber, in the original story of said issue, Peter Parker’s parents!

To date, Richard Parker has only been played by Campbell Scott, who played him in The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Electro-Power.

Of all the references to this character in this article, without a doubt, in the film, his name is mentioned more than once, because we are clearly told that during the film, Richard is traveling, even though his pregnant wife is waiting at home.

J. Jonah Jameson

Giving his first role to a young Peter Parker, this grumpy character first saw the light of day in the comic pages of The Amazing Spider-Man #1 (1963) by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. It’s simply titled Spider-Man.

J. Jonah Jameson, to date, has been played by David White in the pilot of the Amazing Spiderman series, by Robert F. Simmons in the remaining chapters, and by JK Simmons in The Spider. Movies – Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Venom: There Will Be Carnage (2021), Spider-Man: No Way Home and Morbius (2022), in addition to voicing the animated version of the character in the film Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse (2023) and in various cartoon series.

This is probably the most hidden reference of the three covered in this article, especially for people who watch the movies without reading the comics. And at some point in the movie Madam Web, Celeste O’Connor’s Mattie Franklin tries to call her Uncle Jonas on the phone. At first, we might consider it a coincidence that, in fact, in the comics, the young woman is J. Also, the presence of copies of the Daily Bugle throughout Madame Web’s footage makes us realize that the main protagonist of this episode is the owner of the newspaper.
