Disney wants its own universe in Fortnite! The company has invested heavily in the shares of Epic Games

The universe that Disney wants to create will consist of characters from Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar and many other franchises.

Disney bought $1.5 billion in Epic Games shares so it could develop a new universe for its characters to inhabit.

The resulting universe will be vast and open, in addition to coexisting with Fortnite and allowing fans to play, buy, and interact with their favorite characters from the Mouse Company catalog.

The announcement was made during Disney’s Q1 FY24 earnings call, where the company’s CEO, Bob Iger, said that players will be able to “create their own stories and experiences” and “share content with each other in new ways.”

Iger added: “Our exciting new relationship with Epic Games brings together beloved Disney brands and franchises with the wildly popular Fortnite in a transformative new universe of gaming and entertainment.” This marks Disney’s largest foray into the game and offers significant opportunities for growth and expansion. “We can’t wait for fans to experience their favorite Disney stories and worlds in new and creative ways.”

Tim Sweeney, founder of Epic Games, expressed his enthusiasm for working with Mouse House: “Disney was one of the first companies to believe that they had the ability to merge their world with ours in Fortnite, and they use Unreal. engine across their portfolio. “Now we’re collaborating on something completely new to build a sustainable, open and scalable ecosystem that brings the Disney and Fortnite communities together.”

While it’s currently unknown when we’ll be able to test it, it’s a multi-year project and the two companies are said to be looking to expand on the time they’ve worked together on Fortnite.
