The creation of the DCU was confirmed a year ago, and these are some of the iconic characters we want to see on the big screen.
A year ago, the DC Universe promised a cinematic renaissance under the leadership of DC Studios and co-founders James Gunn and Peter Safran. Today, with only “Superman: Legacy” in true form, fans still have plenty of characters to look forward to seeing on the big screen. Here, we explore heroes and villains that could make for an interesting spin on the DCU.
Cybernetic Brain: Brainiac
We start with Brainiac, an alien android with supernatural intelligence. Known for collecting cities and tracking knowledge across civilizations, this character will be the perfect antagonist for future installments in “Superman: Legacy” or when the Justice League finally reunites.
Escape artist: Master Tamrat
After Darkseid appeared in Zack Snyder’s “Justice League,” Mr. Miracle is shaping up to be a natural addition to the DCU. Highfeather’s alter ego, Scott Fry, has become an escape master on Earth, fleeing his hateful foster father, Darkseid. His story is not only interesting, but also paves the way for new stories of gods.
Emerald Archer: Green Arrow
After eight seasons on “Arrow”, Oliver Queen deserves a movie version. Green Arrow’s dynamic with characters like Batman and Black Canary is full of untapped potential. A reboot by DC Studios will probably be an opportunity to delve deeper into this character, re-examining the idea of ”Supermax.”
Botanical Sectres: Poison Ivy
Poison Ivy, best known for her appearances in “Batman & Robin” and the “Gotham” series, needs a new venture into cinema. Exploring their romance with Harley Quinn is not only interesting, but also gives Ivy the respect she deserves in the DC Universe.
Shadow of the Bat: Night time
Dick Grayson, better known as Nightwing, is a recurring character in productions such as “Titans.” His addition to the DCU, especially in Andy Muschetti’s “The Brave and the Bold,” could be an opportunity to explore his evolution from the original Robin to independent hero.
Reverse Wizard: Zetana.
Zatanna, with her unique magic and history intertwined with Justice League of Darkness and John Constantine, deserves a leading role in the DCU. Even if the Emerald Fennel project doesn’t materialize, Zatanna could be making her debut in the Swamp-Thing movie, paving the way for her to be involved in future DC productions.
The Lost Icon: Wonder Woman
Interestingly, Wonder Woman’s future in the DCU is uncertain. Despite Gal Gadot’s comments and James Gunn’s silence, fans are still waiting for a new movie to join “Superman: Legacy” and “The Brave and the Bold.” Could DC Studios surprise us with a twist, perhaps introducing Wonder Woman’s daughter Lizzie Prince?
The Hooded Avenger: Red Hood
Finally, Red Hood stands as a key character to explore. Jason Todd, resurrected by Talia al Ghul and transformed into a Punisher-style vigilante, represents a deep emotional conflict with Batman and offers great potential for a solo franchise in the DCU.
These characters will not only enrich the DC Cinematic Universe, but also meet the expectations of fans who are looking forward to seeing their favorite heroes and villains on the big screen. A year after DC Studios’ announcement, we hope these cinematic dreams will soon become a shocking reality.
