Marvel’s Spider-Women
In the vast universe of Marvel Comics, the title of Spider-Woman has been taken up by a variety of fascinating characters, each bringing their own diversity and depth to the Spider-Man legacy. In the year
The first to wear this mantle was Jessica Drew, created by Archie Goodwin and Marie Severin. His origins are linked to experiments with spiders and a serum that gives him superhuman abilities such as strength, agility and “spider sense”. Jessica is unique in her connections to Hydra and SHIELD and her tenure as a private investigator and special agent.
Then came Julia Carpenter, introduced during Marvel’s “Secret Wars.” Julia, who later takes on the role of Madame Web, is known for her psychic powers in addition to her typical Spider-Woman physical abilities. His story intersects with other heroes in key events of the Marvel Universe.
Matty Franklin, niece of J. Jonas Jameson, is the third Spider-Woman. Created by John Byrne and Raphael Kayanian, Mattie is characterized by her youth and her desire to express herself. He inherits his powers after a mysterious ritual, which gives him a unique connection to the mystical side of Marvel.
Finally, Gwen Stacy will be given a new interpretation in an alternate “Spider-Gwen” universe. In this world, Gwen is bitten by a radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker, carrying a message of encouragement and responsibility.
These Spider-Women add richness to the Spider-Man mythology, but also represent the diversity and evolution of female characters in comics.
