The new Star Wars movie will feature not only the cast of the series, but creators Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.
Lucasfilm announces the start of production on “The Mandalorian and Grogu” for the big screen. Directed by Jon Favreau, and produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni, this new chapter in The Mandalorian and Grog’s journey will go into production in 2024.
“I love telling stories set in the rich worlds that George Lucas has created. The opportunity to bring The Mandalorian and Apprentice Grog to the big screen is exciting,” said Favreau.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy added, “Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni introduced two beloved characters to Star Wars, and this new story is perfect for the big screen.
“The Mandalorian and Groove” headlines the current phase of Lucasfilm’s development, which includes films directed by Charmaine Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold and Dave Filoni, who is currently producing the second season of “Ahsoka.”
From being a streaming success to the big screen
The series starring Pedro Pascal was not only a huge success on Disney+, but also served to give a breath of fresh air to the franchise created by George Lucas, which did not take off, stalling well after the last film of the trilogy. Din Djarin and little “Baby Yoda” managed to enter the living rooms of millions of homes and carve out a place for themselves in popular culture.
It’s been rumored for a while that the fourth season of this series might make the jump to the big screen, and now we know it’s true. Seeing as the film is true, the rumors that surfaced a while back that one of the franchise’s most beloved characters will return to the film will no longer be plausible, time will tell.
All three seasons of The Mandalorian are available on Disney+.
