Zack Snyder reveals what Warner Bros. wants with the DCEU

Zack Snyder explains why he wasn’t the right person to direct an entire cinematic universe centered around DC Comics characters.

Zack Snyder’s vision was a problem for Warner Bros.

After the failure of the DCEU, Warner Bros decided to reboot the franchise under the direction of James Gunn and Peter Safran. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Zack Snyder reflected on his time in the DCEU and suggested what happened.

“I’ve never seen it as a career: ‘Oh, I’m a DC engineer. I have to create entertainment for DC that sells toys and is fun for the masses and everyone.’ I didn’t care about that. I loved Batman, I loved Superman, I wanted to do something cool. “If you’re looking for a product, you’ve picked the wrong guy.”

Snyder’s words are reflected in each of his films, as well as the filmmaker’s plan not to go along with what a great franchise represents, ie, multiple films, spin-offs, and sequels to different characters in the universe. DC So Snyder’s productions had specific goals, while the other projects followed a different path. This leads us to a universe that is poorly connected and lacks clear direction.

Zack Snyder didn’t want to copy Marvel.

Snyder talked about Joss Whedon’s version of Justice League, a film that had bad reviews and was a disappointment at the box office. The director said he wanted to keep his vision to the end, but Warner Bros. wanted the film to be more in line with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“We put a lot of thought into what we were doing. We didn’t try to make an Avengers movie. We weren’t. To be honest, we didn’t know how. Enter the person who did it. I have never seen it [versión de Whedon]But the answer was no.

Snyder is correct in saying that copying Marvel wasn’t the answer, as the DCEU’s projects are separate from the MCU. If they are similar to, the public will prefer to go to see the universe that is already established and in good time. Warner says the best way to deal with the situation is to give the audience a world that feels different than what they’ve seen and has its own story.
