Talented animator Eduardo Quintana’s fan-animated epic training battle between Goku and Broly perfectly captures the fan-favorite action. Broly’s character received significant development in the short film, showing more character development than in the original DBZ film trilogy. Eduardo Quintana’s fan animation shows a true understanding of his beloved characters and makes Brolin a more interesting character than Dragon Ball has shown in years.
A talented fan animator features Dragon Ball Super’s Goku and Broly in a new epic training competition that will delight fans of the action and character. Broly entered the franchise during 2018’s Dragon Ball Super: Broly the Movie, where the character received a significant upgrade in both his powers and story. However, the evolved character has been absent from most recent releases of Dragon Ball Super, and one talented animator decided to change that.
The Dragon Ball franchise has captivated millions of fans around the world and inspired many to learn how to animate their own projects. The Legendary Super Saiyan Broly has starred in a number of jaw-dropping fan projects that transform the fan-favorite character into a force of nature to conquer even more than usual. However, Dragon Ball fan and accomplished animator Eduardo Quintana created something new that perfectly celebrates and develops Brolin’s updated character in a short film called Dragon Ball Saisen – The Animated Manga.
Within 14 months, Eduardo created a short project in his spare time that saw the once-fearing legendary Super Saiyan fight Goku while training on Beerus’ planet. The 90-second clip from Broly’s latest look — in Dragon Ball Super: The Superhero Movie , recently adapted into a manga — shows him training with Goku and Vegeta on Beerus’ planet. The animation expands on that short sequence and is incredibly well done like a manga chapter, but with stellar animation and action. It shows more character development from Broly than the original DBZ movie trilogy.
Eduardo’s fan animation makes more of Broly than Dragon Ball has in years.
Bringing Broly into the Dragon Ball franchise changed his backstory and made the previously out-of-control Legendary Super Saiyan into an overarching character. Even in the new canon of the franchise, the Marirod Saiyan still occasionally suffers from an out-of-control planet-destroying rage. However, forming a strong bond with Goku, Vegeta, and Chelai helped him change his character dramatically. Eduardo’s well-made video shows this beautifully, showing Broly nearly losing himself to his powers after taking a hit from Goku. Instead of losing control, Broly recounts the new bonds he cherishes. However, the good character development does not end there.
Dragon Ball Saison features incredibly satisfying action and character development for Broly. After removing another meltdown, the Legendary Saiyan controls an energy that exudes calmness rather than anger. Pleased with his progress, Goku smiled and as the video ended, the two continued their fight. However, the tear-jerking ending sees Broly throw away the last piece of clothing from the planet he grew up in, a belt he created from his first friend, a brutal giant named Baas, which reveals that Broly has moved on to another place entirely. Once upon a time, he was the only cruel one.
Eduardo Quintana Broly has created a more interesting character.
In 1993, Dragon Ball Z: Broly – Legendary Super Saiyan introduced the character’s debut as Broly as a one-dimensional force in destroying Goku. Fortunately, the 2018 film reimagined that story and made Brolin an innocent soul cursed with incredible strength. Eduardo Quintana’s fan project Dragon Ball Saison showcased not only his animation chops, but also his true understanding of the beloved characters, creating dynamic battles during Goku and Broly’s training session. It may be some time before fans see the Dragon Ball Super version of Broly, but when they do, fans can only hope that his return is half as satisfying as Eduardo’s epic short film.
