10 Perfect Horror Games for the Holiday Season That Will Chill You to the Bone

Horror may not be the go-to genre for the holiday season, but horror fans can make even the most festive of occasions terrifying. When it comes to scary games to play during the winter, players may be interested in the setting and atmosphere. Many horror games take place in the middle of winter. The cold environment often adds to the scares. Winter days are short and winter nights are long, making for the perfect, spooky setting.

Winter is the perfect backdrop for horror, and not just because it gives game developers the perfect excuse to make everything dark and damp. Extreme temperatures are associated with the natural fear of freezing to death. Humans can survive in harsh environments, but as a species we’re not exactly built to be constantly exposed to the cold. These cold games are perfect for imitating how terrifying the harsh winter months can be.
