It didn’t take long for Dragon Ball GT to become the object of mockery and controversy. Akira Toriyama contributed to the redesign GTand came up with some early concepts, but the show’s lighter tone was a disconcerting change of pace for those expecting more Dragon Ball Zaction-packed shows. If nothing else, Dragon Ball GT recognizes his flaws and ends up finding a successful rhythm that is sometimes even up to par DBZThe latest episodes of.
Dragon Ball GT has no place in the franchise canon in a post-Dragon Ball Super world, but the anime still has a passionate audience who love the concepts and characters of the following series. Dragon Ball GT The fandom has grown more intense over time, but this growing reevaluation doesn’t erase many of the show’s questionable decisions. Dragon Ball GT They often made strange choices that defied logic and left an unpleasant mark on the anime’s reputation.
10 Goku never becomes an adult again
Dragon Ball GT begins sadly with a wish on the Death Star Dragon Balls gone wrong and turning Goku into a child. Goku’s childlike state – as well as the hunt for the Dragon Balls – is a very explicit attempt to invoke the spirit of the original Dragon Ball. This decision might have been more positively received if it had only been present for the introductory Dragon Ball Black Star saga. Unfortunately, Goku remains child-sized throughout the entire saga. GT. It makes no sense that Goku wouldn’t use the Dragon Balls to turn himself into an adult again.especially since its base form is fundamentally stronger that way.
Dragon Ball GT The series tries to get around this decision by having Goku temporarily become an adult every time he transforms into a Super Saiyan 4 (which also makes no sense), but the series reaches a point where it oversteps this initial idea. It’s extremely stupid that Goku would just accept this fate, rather than take matters into his own hands and do something about it, especially when the Dragon Balls and magic have accomplished more important tasks.
9 Goku is eliminated by Mugley and didn’t even feel his attack
The World Martial Arts Tournament was one of the Dragon Ballthe oldest traditions and it is appreciated to see it receiving a little love Dragon Ball GTeven if it does not reach the same heights as the previous parts. Dragon Ball GTThe 31st Goku World Tournament takes advantage of Goku’s youthful state and forces him to compete in the Junior Division. Goku should easily be able to take down all of his opponents and emerge victorious, but he faces a particularly embarrassing defeat at the hands of a cowardly child who Dragon Ball SuperMonaka seems intimidating in comparison. Mugley is a scared boy whose grand fighting strategy is to tickle his opponent into submission.
Vegeta’s appearance at the World Tournament leaves Goku distracted, and Mugley uses this opportunity to tickle Goku into submission before carrying him out of the arena. This match is not meant to be taken too seriously, and Goku’s unceremonious defeat is played for laughs. However, Goku’s finely tuned senses should have still allowed him to notice Mugley’s attack, even if he was distracted. It’s a moment that is willing to trade Goku’s power, experience, and intelligence for an easy gag.
8 Goten and Trunks never fuse into Gotenks
A bigger problem with Dragon Ball GT are there so many? Dragon Ball ZThe strongest characters are pushed aside and given nothing to do, while Goku, Pan, and sometimes Vegeta take the lead. It’s somewhat insulting that extremely powerful individuals like Gohan, Goten, and Trunks are made into supporting roles that barely contribute to major victories. Trunks is presented as the miserable president of Capsule Corp., and Goten is a rambunctious teenager who is more interested in dating than saving the world.
Such major threats are introduced into Dragon Ball GTespecially during the Shadow Dragon Saga, there is no sense in Goten and Trunks never becoming their stronger fused form, Gotenks. Goten and Trunks are stronger as Gotenks and are still one of the few characters to have reached Super Saiyan 3 status. Gotenks Super Saiyan 3 would have been crucial against Syn Shenron and one would think that the sight of Goku and Vegeta performing the fusion dance would have triggered similar feelings in this duo.
7 Super Perfect Cell absorbs Goku and becomes an overcharged Cell
Dragon Ball GT engages in some serious fan service when Dr. Gero and Dr. Myuu’s plan to create Super 17 causes a massive rift between Hell and Earth. Dozens of deceased villains return to Earth and cause calamity and chaos. Goku travels to Hell with the intention of fixing this problem and gets trapped by Frieza and Cell, who have decided to work together. A Frieza and Cell team-up is certainly appealing, but Dragon Ball GT gets a little overzealous in this regard. Super Perfect Cell successfully absorbs Goku and becomes even stronger as Overloaded Cell.
There are a number of problems with this development. For one, Perfect Cell’s tail was previously vestigial and unable to absorb others, unlike the appendage when he is in his Imperfect and Semi-Perfect forms. Furthermore, Goku is able to reverse this process by crawling out of Overloaded Cell’s body. Everything that has happened with Cell in the past suggests that absorption is not something that can be overcome so easily. It’s another negligent detail that creates an exciting obstacle, but it doesn’t factor into the series’ story.
6 Vegeta unlocks Super Saiyan 4 without Super Saiyan 3
Super Saiyan transformations are always cause for celebration. Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball GT introduces some interesting new concepts into the mix, such as the Golden Great Apes and the Super Saiyan 4 stage. During the final battle against Syn Shenron, Bulma activates a Blutz wave generator that helps Vegeta regrow his tail and eventually achieve Super Saiyan 4 status. Vegeta’s decision to achieve Super Saiyan 4 status through artificial means is a whole other conversation to have. Whether Vegeta stoops to this decision or not is still a question. it makes no sense that he immediately transforms into Super Saiyan 4 and completely bypasses Super Saiyan 3.
There is an established hierarchy for Super Saiyan transformations and Dragon Ball GT just blatantly skips a crucial step, because that’s what Vegeta needs right now. Even a simple glimpse of Vegeta going Super Saiyan 3 before continuing to transform even further would have solved this problem. Oddly enough, Dragon Ball Super faces a similar problem when Vegeta appears to reach Super Saiyan Blue status before becoming a Super Saiyan God.
5 Majuub fights Vegeta, the baby golden monkey, from the inside
Dragon Ball ZThe conclusion sets Uub up for huge success as an individual with incredible potential who is then taken under Goku’s wing to better hone his skills. Dragon Ball GT The game delivers on its promises, but Uub, unfortunately, doesn’t get nearly as much attention as he deserves. Uub provides crucial assistance in the battle against Baby, and he receives a major power boost when he fuses with Majin Buu to become Majuub. The circumstances behind this fusion are debatable, but there’s an internal logic that makes sense to Dragon Ball. That being said, what doesn’t hold up is what follows when Majuub steps up his attack on Baby Vegeta. Majuub gains many of Buu’s abilities, such as his shapeshifting beam, which is expressed in the form of his new chocolate Kamehameha.
Majuub fires the Chocolate Kamehameha at Baby Vegeta, but the villain reflects it back at him and turns Majuub into chocolate. Baby Vegeta eats Majuub, which seems to be the end of his character. However, it is later revealed that this was Majuub’s plan all along and he launches an attack from inside Golden Great Ape Baby Vegeta that stops his attacks and eventually forces him to expel him from his body. This makes for an exciting turn of events, but It makes no sense that Majuub wouldn’t be killed by being eaten in the first place.Dragon Ball Z explains that the individuals Buu absorbs are still alive in his body, but this shouldn’t apply to a Great Ape as well.
4 Nuova Shenron’s Antidote Cures Goku’s Blindness
Dragon Ball GTThe seven Shadow Dragons are the final villains in the series, and each of these enemies brings something unique to the battlefield. The Shadow Dragons all possess diverse powers, but they are largely monotonous villains that lack nuance. This changes with Nuova Shenron, who actually seems to have empathy for Goku’s plight and is interested in a fair fight rather than an easy victory. Eis Shenron, Nuova Shenron’s twin, blinds Goku with his ice claw attack Maniacal Blinding Slash. Goku is at a disadvantage, but he still manages to destroy Eis Shenron. Nuova Shenron presents Goku with an antidote that will cure his blindness, but Syn Shenron executes his Shadow Dragon counterpart for showing mercy to the enemy.
The very idea of an antidote for blindness doesn’t really make sense and simply comes across as a convenient device that gives Syn Shenron an excuse to kill Nuova Shenron. There are several healing tools in Dragon Ball This would have been more appropriate in this situation. Nuova Shenron’s attempt to give Goku a Senzu Bean to cure his blindness makes a lot more sense. The same would be true if Dende or Majuub tried to use their powers to cure Goku’s eyesight, only for Syn Shenron to execute them as well. This all gets even weirder when Goku manages to regain his eyesight on his own and it seems like Nuova Shenron’s antidote wasn’t so important after all.
3 The Mere Existence of Hell Enma & Sugoroku Space
Dragon Ball has made great strides in gradually expanding his interpretation of the Otherworld and the afterlife. This continues in Dragon Ball GT and, while it’s not impossible that new levels of Hell and Otherworld dimensions will be introduced, they seem rather gratuitous and convenient. One such development is Sugoroku Space, a purgatory-like realm that exists between dimensions, which is presented as a giant macabre board game. Goku is forced to navigate and survive this game when he is dropped by Kibito Kai while being transported with his Kai Kai technique.
It seems that there has been a mention of the Sugoroku Space before or that it is the corresponding punishment for falling from Snake Way. Additionally, Goku’s detour to Hell where he battles Cell and Frieza also leads to the introduction of Hell Enma. Hell Enma is the equivalent of King Yemma in Hell. She is in charge of the darkest regions of Hell and runs a four-stage Terrible Torture Tour. Dragon Ball has not previously avoided representations of hell or the worst individuals who populate the prison dimension, but Hell Enma and its forms of torture are not revealed until it helps the service Dragon Ball GTThe story of.
2 Goku struggles to maintain his Super Saiyan 3 as a child
Goku feels surprisingly comfortable in his child’s body Dragon Ball GTdespite the drawbacks and lower power level that comes with it. Goku’s Super Saiyan 4 form becomes his primary fighting tool once he reaches that status during his fight against Baby. However, there are still instances where he attempts to use the power of Super Saiyan 3 to get the job done. Goku reveals that his smaller, transformed body has difficulty maintaining the Super Saiyan 3 form. The exceptional power loss from the transformation results in him only being able to remain in Super Saiyan 3 for a few seconds before reverting to a weaker state.
This problem is slightly alleviated once Goku regrows his tail, but he still can’t handle the harsh conditions of Super Saiyan 3. In theory, this concession makes sense, but Dragon Ball Z Gotenks has already been shown to be able to successfully maintain Super Saiyan 3 power when he wasn’t even nine years old yet. Goku is stronger and has more substantial combat experience than Gotenks, so it makes sense that he would do a better job with the stamina loss of Super Saiyan 3 than a novice.
1 Goku and Vegeta’s families lose contact
Dragon Ball GT actually has one of the strongest endings in the franchise and there are extreme levels of nostalgia and catharsis as Goku says goodbye to his friends and loved ones. However, Dragon Ball GT The film gives us a glimpse into the future by jumping forward a century and introducing us to the events of the 64th World Martial Arts Tournament. Pan proudly watches her great-great-grandson, Goku Jr., fight Vegeta Jr. in the martial arts competition. Pan strikes up an innocent conversation with Bulma Leigh, a descendant of Vegeta and Bulma’s family.
Their conversation reveals that Goku and Vegeta’s families have gradually lost contact with each other, and that Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. are at the tournament as strangers, rather than friends. It could be said that Goku’s exodus at the end of Dragon Ball GT fractures these two families and causes them to drift apart, but that seems unlikely and too harsh. There are so many similarities between Goku and Vegeta’s families that complete ignorance of the other seems impossible.. Dragon Ball ZThe epilogue of Peaceful World Saga even states that Goku hasn’t seen Bulma and her friends in years, but they are still friends and in contact with each other.
