The Legend of Zelda is an unforgettable franchise that is home to one of gaming’s most iconic villains: Ganon, called Ganondorf in his humanoid form. Although he is consistently the main antagonist of the Zelda games, he is not always the final boss – in fact, some final bosses have nothing to do with Ganon at all.
These Zelda the games are fun to play alone, but they shine with their final bosses, whether it’s Ganon or not. These final bosses are the most replayable in the Zelda franchise, either by being brand new (and equally memorable) characters, or by just being fun to play. Zelda II: Link’s Adventure
Zelda II: Link’s Adventure is a unique entry among others Zelda games, being the only side-scrolling one in the franchise. It remains distinct in tone and gameplay, and this is the origin of a particularly particular character: Link’s Shadow. Also known as Dark Link, he is the final boss of the game and reappears throughout the franchise, such as in the Water Temple of Ocarina of time.
Link’s Shadow is an incredibly difficult but fun boss fight, especially being the final boss. It’s a wonderful play on the “conquer your inner demons” trope often seen in games, and it’s rewarding every time it’s defeated. It’s the hardest fight in an already difficult game, so of course it’s triumphant when defeated, and it stays in the player’s mind long after the game is over.
10 Shadow nightmares are invigorating
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is an adorable, action-packed adventure that was literally just a dream. This doesn’t cancel everything out suddenly, as Link’s journey helps awaken the mythical Wind Fish, which was the main objective of the game. With everything being a dream, it makes sense that the final boss would be a literal nightmare.
However, the game goes even further, making the Shadow Nightmare, a collection of all previous bosses Link had fought so far.. If it seems tedious to revisit the six bosses, it’s quite the opposite. It’s a reminder of how far the player has come, and it’s all the best highlights of each fight. It’s a fun final farewell to this game, worth fighting over and over again.

The Legend of Zelda is one of the most beloved franchises of all time with many popular games. Some games are overrated, however.
When gamers think of the iconic final fight between Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf, they almost always imagine the final boss in Ocarina of time. He has all the Zelda must-sees, epic storytelling and fantastical powers with unbeatable action. Plus, it’s split into different, distinct stages, both as fun as each other, with the first stage open to creative (and hilarious) outcomes. I’m just saying, what other Zelda game can you play ping pong with an empty bottle?
The second phase is where the Ganondorf boss fight appears to be fun and unforgettable. 4 Majora’s Wrath is chaotic and fun
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is a strange and original game with poignant messages of heartbreak and regret. It is one of the darkest tones Zelda games throughout the franchise, with a permafrost of death covering the entire land of Termina and its inhabitants. For a game that relies so heavily on pacing and tone, the final boss, Majora, presents a stark contrast.
Majora is divided into three stages: Majora’s Mask, Majora’s Incarnation, and Majora’s Wrathall offering distinctly chaotic and panic-inducing gameplay. Of course, if Link manages to obtain the Fierce Deity Mask before the fight, this boss is a complete power trip that cannot be contained, but for those who haven’t collected all the masks, they are in for an unforgettable challenge .
3 Calamity Ganon is fast and terrifying
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was an absolutely revolutionary addition to the franchise. Although technically it wasn’t the first open world Zelda game (after all, the original NES Zelda is exactly that), it’s the first of many new core elements of gameplay and story beats. Plus, with unforgettable graphics, music, characters and story, it’s probably the best game in the franchise, and it’s only solidified as such with Calamity Ganon.
This Ganon is hatred and malice incarnate, rotting and infecting Hyrule Castle while Princess Zelda desperately tries to keep him at bay. Players could hypothetically go directly to him after waking up and leaving the Great Plateau, which would be unheard of elsewhere. Zelda games. Additionally, the entire boss experience changes based on what players have already accomplished in the game, so it’s all the more rewarding for those who have already defeated the divine beasts.

1 The most replayable Ganondorf boss
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
The wind awakener has some of the best fights of all Zelda franchise, with accompanying music for every keystroke and movements as fluid as the ocean itself. Link faces the danger of water itself in his battles, with a flurry of sword swings and damage, but the final fight against Ganondorf is breathtaking and unforgettable. Ultimately, he meets one of the most brutal fates of any of Ganon’s other incarnations.
The wind awakener is an incredible heroic tale through the lens of a child, with surprising depth and heart in its stories and characters. This includes Ganondorf himself, with one of his most iconic monologues taking place before this final boss fight. Plus, this is basically the only fight where Link could take a selfie with Ganondorf in the middle of the battle, a childish and hilarious cherry on top of an already iconic fight.
